FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Join IIPI, USPTO, and speakers and participants from over twenty countries for a workshop on specialized intellectual property rights (IPR) courts and their role in promoting economic development.

During the three-day event, IIPI and USPTO will unveil the results of the most ambitious study of specialized IPR courts to date. The study identifies and catalogs specialized IPR courts to create a comprehensive database of all existing and proposed regimes worldwide. Eleven countries and regions were also selected as case studies to the impact each regime has on the effective and efficient adjudication of IPR-related disputes. The results of these analyses—a set of best-practice guidelines for the establishment and administration of IPR courts—will be featured during the workshop. The full agenda is available here.

Highlights will include a keynote address by David Kappos, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of USPTO, and presentations by Kenneth Feinberg, Founder and Managing Partner, Feinberg Rozen, LLP; Robert W. Holleyman II, President and CEO of the Business Software Alliance (BSA); Jorge Amigo, Vice Chairman, IIPI, former Director of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI); and Shinjiro Ono, former Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office.
